2 Bedroom House in Cussy-en-Morvan

The detached house, about 200 years old, has been completely restored with high quality materials. We managed to maintain its original french rural character while connecting it to modern design and comfort (fiber Internet and SAT-TV).
It offers a charming place for a couple or a family with up to 5 persons of incredible calm and with a lot of light in the 'Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan' within the heart of Burgundy.
Inside
The ground floor is a large living room (35 m2) with French beamed ceiling, oak floors and a cozy lounge area with a modern stove. Also in the ground floor there is the spacious and well-equipped kitchen (22 m2) with a table for up to 10 persons. The first floor is accessed via a beautiful staircase. There is another very generous and also light-filled room (30 m2) with oak flooring, which serves as a bedroom (1 double bed- 200 x 160 cm) as well as a second living room. Connected to this room is a spacious bathroom (7 m2) - with walk-in showers and window - and a small (9 m2) Bedroom (1 double bed- 200 x 140 cm) with a gallery offering another cosy place to sleep (especially for kids).
Outside
Around the house there is enough space to relax or dine on the spacious terrace (you will find all the necessary garden furniture, including a grill). From almost any place there is a wonderful view: at the back of the house there are romantic meadows (about 3h), with Camargue horses, and to the front of the house there is the village and the landscape of the beautiful Morvan.

Our verdict ? Perfect ...cosy quiet & peaceful , the house has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing break including a large private garden outdoors & a luminous area upstairs to read when the good weather was missing .The house is spotlessly clean & equipped with everything you need .No need to look for faults ..there were none : A wonderful house & a cool host Thank you Georges !

Summary: Everything was as per the information. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his wife who came to check that everything was ok, very pleasant couple. Would like to stay again if we visit the area. Good for walking, lakes great for swimming and very picturesque scenery. Would recommend eating at Lac Settons grill, four courses for euros 18.90 with lovely terrace and view.

Summary: My family loved the tranquility of this property. The peace and quiet were exactly what we were after with only the sound of birds, sheep and other local wildlife to contend with. The owner provides everything you could wish for including useful information about activities in the local area. The pretty village of Cussy-en-Morvan is only a very short walk away with a friendly and incredibly well stocked small village shop. We hope to return in the future to explore the area more.

Summary: We loved staying in this beautiful old house, which has been so carefully refurbished, leaving authentic elements intact. We spent a week's holiday here with our three children aged 8, 10, and 12, and we all loved it. It's so nice and quiet there in the hills, yet close to the little village, with only sheep as neighbours. The starry night sky was also a sight for sore eyes. Our favourite things to do in the area were swimming in the little lake next to the camping municipale in Anost (a nice village, where we also had dinner at the perfectly acceptable pizza restaurant), and swimming in Lac des Settons and hiring a water bike with slide (the children loved this!). We also visited Beaune, Autun, and Saulieu, all very much worth a visit. But after every visit to anywhere we always enjoyed coming back to the lovely house in Cussy, where it was so easy to feel at home. We were also made to feel very welcome by the owner, mr. Brox, who met us when we had just arrived, and showed us around the house. He always responded very promptly whenever we had questions. We won't forget the feeling this house gave us, and there is every chance that we will want to come back in the future.

Summary: We stayed at Gîte de Thivelle in for one week in mid-April with our two children, aged 3 and 7 and had a truly wonderful and relaxing time. The village of Cussy-en-Morvan is quaint and very quiet and the position of the house relative to the village is ideal for having a proper get-away-from-it-all. Sheep and horses were our only close neighbours! The house was very comfortable, clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The pictures provided are very accurate, and if anything, it was better in person. A selection of toys, books, games and DVD's was a much appreciated bonus! The house is heated with two wood-stoves which served to make the house warm and cozy despite quite cold nighttime temperatures that week. Although we were happy to mostly explore the local area by foot, the house is well positioned to explore many of Burgundy's attractions by car. We did make the trip to Vézelay and recommend it highly. Beaune and Autun, which we have been to on previous trips, are very accessible by car from Cussy and are also well worth seeing. Contact with the owner was very straightforward and he was always very prompt in responding to e-mails. Instructions for the house and detailed suggestions for eating and sightseeing were provided in advance and we had no troubles once we were there. In short, we would like to thank Mr. Brox for the use of his lovely home. It would be our great pleasure to return for another stay in the future!
